Intermediate Telecom Engineer (1769BR)


Newport Beach, CA

Duration: 3+ Months

Specifically needed Avaya "Nortel blue" legacy equipment experience.



        The Intermediate Telecom Engineer supports the daily operation of Voice and Unified Communications Systems in support of the Avaya CS1000 telephone Moves, Adds, Changes and Repairs under general supervision without day-to-day direction on assignments.

        The Intermediate Level Engineer responds to potential or identified UC / Voice system and application failures and resolves outages, performance problems, or integrity problems of routine and moderate complexity using standard procedures and established guidelines.

        Must be able to support, configure and implement changes on the Avaya CS1000 telephone system, AACC Contact Center, Session Manager and Call Pilot Menuing servers.

        Responsible to be proficient in Level 1 and Level 2 support on the following systems: Avaya CS1000 Telephone System, AACC Contact Center and Call Pilot Voicemail.

        Background and baseline knowledge supporting common UC and telephony products: Call Recording, Unimax, Call Accounting, application faxing, Skype for Business and Workforce Management.

        Background in NARS / BARS and dial plan configuration is desired.

        Working knowledge of SIP carrier services and T1's.

        Background on Session Border Controllers (Client's) and how they support the telephony environment.

        Independently manage time on multiple work efforts, projects and initiatives that are aligned with the business requirements.

        Participate in vendor and carrier escalations by providing assistance as required to ensure proper escalation and follow up occurs during outages or degraded system performance.

        Apply technical knowledge and support on the overall performance of all Unified Communications application servers and telephone systems that support the Divisions.

        Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of telecommunications problems for end users; recommend and implement corrective solutions.



        Bachelor's Degree or equivalent UC / Telephony technical work experience

        7+ years' experience supporting a multi-site large Voice PBX infrastructure and VoIP environment. (Avaya CS1000 product line).

        5+ years' experience in VoIP initiatives and configuring/optimizing all VoIP/IP/UC systems and services.

        2+ years' experience in Voice Networking, Installation of circuit cards and troubleshooting network and carrier issues.

        Technical certifications from Global Knowledge, Avaya or equivalent (Telephone system installation and administration, contact center and voicemail).

        Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio).

        Must be well rounded with technical and professional skills; Verbal, written, collaboration, accountability, ownership, motivation and follow-through.

        The candidate must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.

        Must be a team player, good listener, self-starter and have the ability to seek innovative solutions to incorporate into the current voice platforms.



        3+ years' experience in Data Networking protocol and converged technologies.

        2+ years' experience in Server, VMware, applications database and server patching.
